LCAD antiquarian book leaf collection
Scope and Contents
This collection contains 34 antiquarian leaves. Most are from Stanley Slotkin and consist of a leaf stapled onto a backing sheet that is printed with a facsimile of the books title page and sometimes short explanatory notes of the type of leaf. A highlight of the collection is a leaf from the 1493 edition of the Nuremberg Chronicle.

Biographical / Historical
This collection consists of 34 leaves, the majority are from Stanley Slotkin, from a variety of works from 1325 to 1789 that demonstrates the evolution of manuscript and print design and workmanship. Slotkin was a Southern California businessman with an interest in history. He collected books and many he broke up and sold their leaves. He is known for stapling the leaves onto backing paper instead of using paper hinges or corners.
